Welcome to our blog.

In the summer of 2013 Off the Fence Theatre Company secured funding from Arts Council England to develop a play for a national tour coupled with a mentoring programme by their inspiration, Out of Joint.

Out of Joint is based in London and, under the direction of Max Stafford-Clark champions new writing by established playwrights and first-time writers as well as co-producing with venues throughout the country and overseas.

The play is Stranger in the Kitchen by Azma Dar. This blog tells the story of what we all learn, discover and create as the play develops ready to tour. It is a series of snapshots, a journal, a travel guide of a journey between a writer, two theatre companies and their audience.

The funding provides mentoring for Off the Fence Theatre Company’s directors Gary Phillpott (Artistic Director), Verity Bartesch (Producer) and Sally Jack (Media Manager).

Mentoring at Out of Joint is provided by Max Stafford-Clark (Artistic Director), Graham Cowley (Associate Producer), Panda Cox (Producer) and Jon Bradfield (Marketing Manager). Thank you to all staff at Out of Joint for being so welcoming to us.
